GADDIS, Dorothy J. (Welch) of Naples, Florida, formerly of Winthrop and Dorchester on February 12, 2017. Dorothy was born in 1942, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy (Cheffro) Welch. She was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Mt. Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton. In 1960 she joined the U. S. Air Force and it was there she met Bill, her husband of 56 years. She was preceded into rest by her beloved daughter, Kristine, and leaves her husband, Bill and her adored son Scott and his loving family, daughter-in-law Nicole and grandchildren Katrina, James and Jack Gaddis of Wayland, as well as dear nieces and nephews. Dorothy and Bill raised their family in Winthrop and upon retirement resided in Arizona, Nevada and Naples, Florida. In Arizona, Dorothy enjoyed tap dancing with the Sun City West Rhythm Tappers and throughout retirement, traveled the world, but what gave her the most joy was being a cherished housewife and mother. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Mon, Feb 27, at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Sun from 4-7pm.
