Obituary

Thomas “Tommy” A. Elmes, Jr., of East Taunton, died peacefully at Morton Hospital on Friday, February 17, 2017 after a short illness at the age of 62. Tommy was born in Taunton, the son of the late Thomas A. Elmes Sr. and Marie (Morin) Elmes, and he lived in the Taunton area his entire life and was educated in Taunton schools. He is survived by his loving daughter, Erin L. Elmes of East Taunton and his former wife, Cathy (Brady) Pratt. He is also survived by his sisters Karen Manriquez of Florida, Kathy Smith and her husband Joseph of Taunton, and his brother Timothy Elmes of Taunton. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Joan (Goldrick) Elmes and is also survived by his step daughter Jesse Borges. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Tommy was a music enthusiast, had a passion for recording and collecting live music which he shared with numerous friends and attended countless concerts over the years. He worked for the City of Taunton Conservation at the Gertrude M. Boyden “Bird Sanctuary” in Taunton. Rand McNally in Taunton and was currently employed at E.I.C. Laboratory in Norwood, MA. He enjoyed reading, spending time in the outdoors, carpentry, and had a love of animals and above all, his time with family and friends. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, February 24th at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday from 5-8 pm. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
