Obituary

Helen L. Cushman, age 79, of Natick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Wayside Hospice/Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Richard Cushman, with whom she shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Born, raised and educated in Brighton, the daughter of the late Martin A. and Gladys M. (Cochran) Hession, she graduated from Brighton High School in 1957. Helen first met Richard in 1957 and the two were married in 1958. In 1963 they settled in Natick and made their family home. Helen prized herself in making certain that the need growing family were met. She was always happy to prepare a meal for her children and their friends or to teach her children how to work in the garden. Her favorite time was spent with her family, weather it was spent at the table enjoying to hear about their day or going for a walk with them.

In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her son David Jon Cushman and his wife Diana of Nashua, N.H., her grandchildren, Kristen Cushman-Taylor and her husband Justin of Hudson, N.H., Nicole Cushman and her fiancée Zack of Nashua, N.H., David Cushman Jr. of Manchester, N.H., Mark Poulin and his wife Chelsea of Lowell, her great grandson Henry Poulin of whom she was so proud, and her granddaughter Veronica Bays.

She was predeceased by her daughter Joan Cushman, and her sister and brother-in-law Bunny and Walter Schwalmn.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service for Helen in the Chapel of the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common on Saturday, February 25 at 3:00 P.M.

Visiting hours will begin at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
