Anthony L. Pizzano, age 92 of Avon, died Tuesday February 14, 2017 at BayPointe Skilled Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Rita (Shea) Pizzano for 61 years. He was born in Portland, Maine a son of the late Alphonse and Eva (Iovine) Pizzano and was raised and educated in Cambridge.
During WWII, Anthony enlisted in the US Army and served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment in the Pacific Theatre. He was a life member of the DAV in Brockton and VFW Post 8892 in Avon.
Anthony had been employed as a printer for various companies in the Cambridge and Boston area for many years. He retired from the Boston Globe in 1987 after 32 years of service.
Anthony had been a member of the Camera Naturalists of Mass (CAMNAT) the Brockton Camera Club and the Quincy Art Association where he had received many awards for his art work and photography.
Anthony is survived by his two daughters Marilyn A. Rogers and her husband James E. Jr. of Macungie, PA and Andrea L. Fitzgerald and her husband Clark of Bridgewater. He leaves four grandchildren Jennifer Daubenspeck and her husband Matthew, James E. Rogers, III and his wife Olivia, Clark A. Fitzgerald and LeeAnn Fitzgerald and four great grandchildren Emily and Matthew Daubenspeck, Conor and Sean Rogers. He was the brother of the late Lawrence Pizzano.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-6:30pm followed by a funeral service at 6:30pm.
