Davis Sr., David L., 85, went to be with his Lord on February 16, 2017 with family by his side.
He was born to Henry and Mary Ann (Jones) Davis on March 4, 1931.
David worked for Armour for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a dedicated member of the Franklin Street Baptist church for 41 years, where he became a Deacon. He then was a member and Deacon of Highview Baptist Church, Valley Station Campus. He was a Boy Scout Leader for pack 338, Kentuckiana World Commerce Council member, volunteered for Prairie Village baseball, Kentuckiana Center for Handicapped Children, and received the Presidents Volunteer Service Award.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, David L. Davis Jr.; brothers: Raymond, Robert, and William Davis; a sister, Jo Ann Lewis; and daughter in law, Betty Davis.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Alicestasia (Mattern); two sons: Roger Dale, and Michael Wayne Davis; 30 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brothers: Charles, and Lee Davis; and a daughter in law, Mary Davis; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Saturday at 10:00 AM at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy. Entombment is at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is Friday 2:00-8:00PM.
