Dorothy M. “Dot” Bosse, 86, of Methuen, passed away on February 12, 2017 at the Wingate of Haverhill Nursing Home.
Dorothy was born on December 11, 1930 to Daniel and Helen (Pelletier) Bosse in St. Agatha, ME. She attended school at Van Buren High School and graduated from St Joseph's College in North Windham, ME with a degree in education. Dorothy entered the convent in 1950 as a Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. After leaving the convent she continued her lifelong passion as a teacher. Dorothy taught in several schools in Maine before settling in Methuen. She continued to teach with Methuen Public Schools and additionally taught at St Ann’s in Lawrence. Dorothy’s devotion to education continued to persevere as a child care provider at St Ann’s Home in Methuen. After retiring from teaching in 1984, she went into business opening an in home personal care service. Dorothy was a devout Catholic who was a communicant at St. Monica’s in Methuen. She was known for being a kind, gentle, and caring soul who enjoyed the quiet pleasantries of life. Dorothy was especially fond of animals. She was a person who touched many lives and made a difference, Dorothy will be missed.
Dorothy is survived her brother, Larry Bosse and his wife Jackie of CT, her sister, Lucille Cyr of Bangor, ME, her brother, Paul Bosse of CT, her sister, Bernadette Anderson of VT, and her sister-in-law, Giselle Bosse. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her dear longtime friend, Marilee Ralph of Methuen, MA. Dorothy was was preceded in death by her parents, her four sisters Annette Chasse, Doris Cyr, Martha La Preise, Theresa Cyr and her three brothers, Louis Chasse, Donald Bosse, and Gilman Bosse.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017, 11:00 AM at St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will take place in the Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell Street, Methuen, MA.
