In Taunton, February 8, 2017 Gerald C. “Pete” Peterson Sr., Age 86, passed away in his home following a brief illness while surrounded by his loving family. Pete is survived by his loving wife Ellen E. (Reed) Peterson. He was born in Karlstad, MN, the son of the late Evald & Patrice (Anderson) Peterson. Gerald had resided in Taunton since 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a tanner in both Taunton and Brockton. Gerald enjoyed playing cards, loved the Red Sox and his pet and best friend Rocky and above all cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. One of his final pleasures was to watch the Patriots win the super bowl with his family. In addition to his wife, Pete leaves his children, Gerald Peterson and his wife Patricia of Taunton, Jeffrey Peterson of Taunton, Patrice Peterson of Taunton and Mary Peterson Goff and her fiance Peter Hatten of North Dighton. He was the oldest of sixteen siblings. Pete leaves his grandchildren, Gerald “Jerry” Peterson III and his wife Tatum, Jeffrey Peterson, Curtiss Goff, Evan Goff and his great grandchildren Colbie and Mallorie Peterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton on Saturday, March 4th at 10 am. Burial is private at the request of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to Southcoast Hospice 200 Mill Road, Fairhaven, MA. 02719
