Obituary


Elsie (Ferrari) Studley, 97, of Whitman, passed away in her sleep at home on February 13th after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James Studley.

Elsie was born in Whitman, daughter of the late John and Tilena (Vergnani) Ferrari. She has been a Whitman resident her whole life, and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1938.

She and her husband were the owners of the Carlyle Club & Carlyle Bowling Alley in Whitman.

Elsie loved crossword puzzles, traveling, especially cruises. Her greatest enjoyment was having her family around her.

She is survived by her four children, Cheryl Studley of Whitman, Mark Studley and his wife Audrey of IN, Michael Studley and his wife Lucinda of Bridgewater and Ann (Studley) Welty and her husband Andrew of MO. Grandmother of seven, Daniel, Stephan, David, James, Joseph and Sarah Studley, Lydia Welty and great grandmother of three, Olivia, Grace and Josie Studley. Special thanks to Sue Cordeiro, who gave great care to Elsie over the years.

Her Funeral Services will be held on Friday February 17th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be in the St James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 16th from 4:00-8:00PM.
