Robert J. Legault, age 68, of Brockton, died unexpectedly February 6, 2017 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Ellen (O’Reilly) Legault. Robert was born, raised and educated in Brockton a son of the late Alfred and Bessie (Gibbons) Legault. During Vietnam he served in the US Army and did 2 tours of duty and was discharged as a Specialist 4. He had been employed by the City of Brockton as a General Foreman for the utilities division for over 40 years and he was a member of the Laborers International Union.
Robert loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a true back yard mechanic. He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered as a quiet and shy man who was always there to lend a helping hand.
Robert was the father of Nicole Legault and Katherine Legault both of Brockton and the late Michael Legault. He leaves three grandchildren Michaela, Devin and Jordan Preeper and his siblings Irene Hammond of Kingston; Alfred, Paul and David Legault all of Brockton. He also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Saturday February 18, 2017 from 12 to 2pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm with military honors.
