Obituary

Laconia -----Armand G. Belanger, 96, died on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the St. Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health.
Mr. Belanger was born on October 22, 1920 in Laconia, the son of George and Grace (Jacques) Belanger. He was a lifelong resident of Laconia and attended Laconia Public Schools. He was employed at Robert H. Irwin Motors, as a Master mechanic, for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. After his retirement he was employed as a "handy man" by Simoneau and Son Funeral Home for over 10 years.
Mr. Belanger was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Mr. Belanger was a World War II Army Veteran and held the rank of Tec 5. He served in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a recipient of the Croix de Guerre, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Star service arrowhead, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. In 2009, Mr. Belanger traveled to Washington DC, accompanied by his son Norman, to visit the nation's war memorials as part of the Honor Flight New England program. The trip was one of his favorite memories. Mr. Belanger was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his backyard workshop.
Mr. Belanger is survived by his wife of 70 years, Theresa R. (Fogg) of Laconia, two sons Richard, of Concord and Norman, of Laconia, a daughter Carol Gammon and her husband David of Laconia, a granddaughter Kelley Gammon of Belmont; three great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nephews and nieces and two brothers, Lorenzo Belanger and Ralph Belanger, both of Laconia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia NH.

Burial will be held in the spring in the family plot in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia.
