Obituary

Augusta, GA--- J. Clarence “Jack” Jackson, Jr., 90, entered into rest on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Kentwood Nursing Facility.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Buddy Holbrook officiating.

Mr. Jackson was a native Augustan, attended local schools and was a graduate of Richmond Academy. He attended the American University at Biarritz, France. He received a B. A. degree from Emory University and a B. S. Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia. He was a former President of the Augusta Area Pharmaceutical Association 10th district and past member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Pharmaceutical Association, member of the University of Georgia Alumni Association, Emory Alumni Association and the National Association of Retail Druggists. He owned and operated Maxwell House Pharmacy for 42 years. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church for 86 years and the John Minter Sunday School Class, where he was a teacher.

Mr. Jackson was an Army veteran of World War II. He served with the 1st Army, 3rd Armored Division in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart, for injuries received in the Battle of the Bulge and 2 Bronze Stars.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Faye Dunaway Jackson and his parents, J. Clarence Jackson, Sr and Frances Hatcher Jackson.

He is survived by his son, Lee Jackson and wife Gloria of Amelia Island, FL and two daughters, Carol J. McGahee and husband, Bill of Clarks Hill, SC and Fran Jackson of Augusta, GA, a grandson, Jackson McGahee and granddaughter, Mary Beth McGahee Stiles and husband, Hunter. He is also survived by his 4-legged companion, “Bubbles”.
The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Mr. Jackson’s devoted caregivers, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ryans, Mrs. Glenda Torres and Mrs. Margaret Brown.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue.
