Dartmouth – Maria Gloria (Sousa) Cabral, age 101 formerly of New Bedford, passed away, on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the wife of the late Manuel R. Cabral and the loving daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Gloria do Rosario Sousa.
Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores. She came to this country and lived in this area since 1960. Maria was stitcher at local dress factories for many years until her retirement.
Her family includes: son: Edward M. Cabral and his wife Maria R. of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren: Robert M. Cabral of New Bedford, Elizabeth Silva of Dartmouth and the late Paul G. Cabral, she is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by 4 siblings.
Her funeral will be Tuesday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be omitted. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
