Obituary

Laconia-----Joseph "Joe" Woodward, 93 of the Taylor Community, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 with his wife at his side.

Joe was born on March 10, 1923 in Tamworth, New Hampshire, the son of Edward S. Woodward and Margaret W. Peirce. Joe graduated from Pinkerton Academy, attended the University of New Hampshire and served with the United States Army in the Phillipines. Upon his return to New Hampshire, Joe established and operated Woodward Electric, Inc. for 43 years, with his wife Pat. Joe will be remembered for his wit and dry humor, his engaging tales of Hobo travels across the country in his early years and his adventures in Alaska.

Joe never met a rock or a ledge that he could not move, transform or enhance. He also enjoyed being a member of the Woodside Carvers at Taylor Community. The family enjoyed many summers on Diamond Island in Lake Winnipesaukee at the cottage that Joe built. After retirement Joe and Pat moved to the vacation home that they had designed in Olde Farms, Grantham, New Hampshire. They enjoyed gardening, creating hiking trails, mountain climbing and traveling in this country and abroad.

Joe is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia (Spurling) Woodward, a daughter, Jayne M. Woodward and partner, Alan Zerobnick of Port Townsend, WA, a son, Bruce W. Woodward (deceased February 10, 2017) wife, Susanne Cullinan of Conway, NH; two grandchildren, Hannah E. Woodward of Portland, Oregon and Samuel J. Woodward of Conway, NH; three brothers, Kent Woodward of Maine, Harvey Feinauer and wife, Kay of Derry, NH Timothy Feinauer and wife, Bette of Loveland, CO; two sisters, Marcia W. Gamache of Laconia, NH and Judith F. Hamer of Derry, NH. In addition to his parents and son, Joe was predeceased by his brother, William Woodward and a sister, Virginia Morton.

There will be no calling hours and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen New Hampshire.
