Obituary

Magdalena “Elena” Quiñones, 67 of New Bedford, MA passed away February 6, 2017 peacefully at home after a long illness. She is survived her daughters; Enid Quiñones, Marilyn Quiñones, Nilda Quiñones, Ilsa Ferrer, Maria Ferrer and sons; Antonio Ferrer and Juan Ferrer. Sergio Velasquez and twenty other grandchildren were the light of her day.

Born September 26th, 1949 in Aguadilla Puerto Rico, Elena got to New Bedford like many other islanders through New York City. She used her skills as a young woman to produce dolls in New York City. Her life thereafter revolved around her beautiful loving family. She was able to care for her children and grandchildren from home for most of the last 30 years since moving to New Bedford. You could catch her taking care of her plants, making sure her fish were fed and in between novelas, she would cook up a storm. This is how she let you know she cared. Elena was a selfless woman with a heart of gold and would take care of anyone who needed help or a place of rest or a hot meal. She exemplified what it is to share her home and love thy neighbor. She was loved wholly and will be deeply missed by her entire family. Her legacy will forever be, family first, family always.

Please join the family in remembering her beautiful soul on Friday February 10, 2017 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford MA 02740. 508-993-2921 from 10am-12pm, proceeded by her burial at 12:45am at the Rural Cemetery.
