Fred J. Elser, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, February 2, 2017, Fred Johnson Elser, Jr. 75, loving husband of Maria Hutcheson Elser.
Mr. Elser was born in Los Angeles, California and was a resident of Martinez, GA for many years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Elser was a member of Church of the Holy Comforter and loved singing in the choir. He worked as an on air announcer at WGAC and WBIA. Inspired by his sister he became passionate about theatre, acting, directing and producing local productions. Mr. Elser helped lobby for the Jabez Hardin Auditorium at the Columbia County Judicial Center. He was a cofounder of Columbia County Arts and was the first President, and was also the Founder of Stage III Productions, a small theatre company in Columbia County.
Mr. Elser was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Elser. Family members include his wife: Maria Hutcheson Elser; daughters: Lauren Kay Elser and Brandi Everett (Mike); sons: Kirk Johnson Elser, Douglas Mitchell Elser, and Shawn Cochran; grandchildren: Zachary Everett and Anton Elser; sister, Margy Arthur, and a host of other loving family members.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Church of the Holy Comforter with The Rev. Dr. Cynthia N. Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
