Age 81 of St. Paul. Passed away January 28, 2017. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Anne. Graduated from St. Paul Central 1953. Joined the U.S. Navy at 17 years old. Married his high school sweetheart and started a family soon after. Went to college and built a home using the G.I. Bill. Respected business manager at four GM Dealerships. He loved his wife, all of his family, the family cabin at Swede Lake, and any trips our mom decided they would go on. Survived by his four sons and their wives, Jim (Barb), Jeff (Laurie), John (Cindy), Joel (Dani); five grandchildren, Jenna (Reid) Wertish, Jon (Alyssa), Natalie, Nate, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Alivia and Jeffrey Wertish. We will all miss you on the swing overlooking Swede Lake. Memorial Service Saturday (2/4) 11:00 AM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul. Visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Private Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
