Obituary

Medford, Massachusetts – Edward “Ted” Tenney Morrill, 87, died Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Rubin & Thompson Assisting Living Facility following a brief illness. Ted was the beloved husband of the late Hazel “Sandy” (Rourke) Morrill, devoted father of Deborah Morrill and her husband Robert Carroll of Andover, Sandra Gaffney and her husband James Gaffney of Florida, Linda Morrill of Stoneham, Donna Desmond and her husband Joseph Desmond of Lexington, and Edward (Ted) Morrill of Medford. He is also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren including: Jilliane, Eric, Tyler, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Angela, Caroline, Matthew and Michael.

Born and raised in Medford, the son of the late Edward and Hazel (Taylor) Morrill, he was a lifelong resident of Medford. Ted served in WWII and upon returning home finished his senior year of high school and then enrolled at Tufts University. He met his wife Hazel Rourke and they were married in 1953. Ted joined the Boston & Maine Railroad and served as a railroad engineer for his entire career until retiring in 1994.

He was a quiet, intelligent and passionate gentleman who kept himself busy with a variety of home building projects and hobbies and was an avid reader. He was happiest being surrounded by his wife Hazel “Sandy” and his children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Massachusetts, on Friday, February 3, 2017, from 10 to 11 AM. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home, following visitation, at 11 AM.
