Obituary

WEBSTER – Rita V. (Nowak) Katrenak, 94, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Lanessa Extended Care after a brief illness with her family at her side. Her husband of 61 years, George P. Katrenak, died in 2003.

She leaves 3 daughters, Dianne J. Warg and her husband Arthur of Reedsville, PA, Sharleen Drouin of Webster, and Linda M. L. Sokol and her husband Timothy of Woodstock Valley, CT; 6 grandchildren, John Columbus, Urgel LaPierre, Jennifer Antous, Kennard LaPierre, Jeffrey Martin and Tadd Martin; 9 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Braden, Justin, Seth, Keegan, Skyler, Georgia, Ella and Shane; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Katrenak in 1952, by her brother William Nowak and by her sister Dorothy Piasta.

She was born in Webster, the daughter of John and Helen (Kroll) Nowak and was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Katrenak worked as a stitcher at Sandlerette Shoe. She was then a housekeeper at Hubbard Regional Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of Saint Louis Church. She volunteered to work at the St. Vincent de Paul store for several years. She liked to knit, to sew and to go shopping. Her family was her treasure and her life.

The funeral will be held Monday, January 30, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Monday in the funeral home.
