Webster – Helen G. (McEwen) MacDonald, age 89, late of Webster and former resident of Hopkinton passed away at home, after a lengthy illness, with her family at her side on Friday, January 20, 2017. She was the wife of Lawrence P. MacDonald with whom she shared 71 wonderful years together.
In addition to her husband Lawrence, she is survived by her three children Paul F. MacDonald of Hopkinton, Steven D. MacDonald and his wife Susan of Holliston, and Janet Coutu of Webster; her six grandchildren Michaela Smith and her husband Al of Londonberry, NH, Alex and Jason MacDonald of Holliston, Johana DiBernado and her husband Dom of Ashland, Jonathan Coutu and his wife Emily of Worcester and Danielle Coutu of Grafton; her six great grandchildren Emily Smith, Jack Smith, Angelina DiBernado, Samantha DiBernado, Domenick DiBernado and Hadley Coutu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino. She had a sublime sense of humor, matched only by her wit and is still the families reining Trivial Pursuit Champion. Her love for her family was a beacon she carried always; she held a stern sense of pride for each member. Her holiday dinners were attended by all and forgotten by none. During her 71 years with Grampy (Dad, Lawrence, Paul…) she made a home for her family, traveled and never missed a moment to enjoy life. She was loved by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her and returned that love graciously to all she knew. She will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service for Helen being celebrated on Saturday, January 28 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common.
Visiting hours will begin at 12:00 noon prior to the service.
