Mary Poverchuk, a lifelong resident of Medford, passed away at her home on Saturday morning, January 14, 2017. She was 95 years old.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts on March 29, 1921, she was the beloved daughter of the late Hudnut and Julia (Jamba) Poverchuk. Mary worked as a Seamstress for many years in Boston’s China Town. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She also loved to bake with her nieces and nephews, doing ceramics and gardening around her home. Above all, Mary enjoyed being with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving siblings; Joseph S. and his wife Mary M. Poverchuk of Medford and Julia and her husband Hubert Norris of Indiana. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary was also the sister of the late Irene Yancowsky, Kathrine Poverchuk, John Poverchuk, Anna Magnanti and Helen Euzukonis.
Her funeral Service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
