Obituary

Romano, Geraldine K. (Ragucci) - known as “Gerry” to her family and friends, currently of Lynnfield and formally of North Reading, Revere, Malden and Boston, died peacefully supported by her loving family on January 14, 2017. She was 74 years old.

Born in Boston on October 26, 1942, she was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Gianinno) Ragucci. Gerry was raised in the North End of Boston and attended school at St. Anthony’s and Julie Billart, and graduated from St. Mary’s in Cambridge. Gerry has strong ties to the North End and never missed the St. Anthony’s and St. Lucy’s Feasts.

She was the devoted mother of Joline Pepper and her husband Eric of North Reading, and of Mark Romano of Mississippi, the cherished grandmother of granddaughters Erica (11) and Alexa (9) Pepper of North Reading and Nicolas (18) of Mississippi. Dear sister of Theresa Sabbio and husband Frank, Angie Marco and husband John and Robert Ragucci and wife Christina, all of Revere, John Ragucci and wife Ann of Florida, and Carmine Ragucci and his late wife Maria of Maine. She was the friend of Leo R. Romano of Florida, and is survived and loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Gerry raised her children in Malden and was very involved in her children’s lives. She was known as a phenomenal cook and always loved to feed her family, “getting a bite” and going out to dinner with family and friends. Gerry loved to go to the theater and loved to dance. She enjoyed going to the YMCA with her friends for her senior exercise class and loved going to BINGO with her sister and brother-in-law. Gerry had two true passions: her grandchildren and sports. She was extremely involved with her grandchildren and loved being around them. She attended many of her granddaughters’ games and performances and was their biggest cheerleader. Gerry loved the Red Sox and the Bruins and could tell you anything about those teams. However, she was the biggest Patriots fan around and whole-heartedly enjoyed every football Sunday. She will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
