Passed away January 9, 2017 after a short battle with Alzheimer's. Preceded in death by parents Raymond & DeLoris Hohenthaner & sister Meredith. Survived by loving husband of 50 years, Larry; children Stephen & Jodene (Richard) Malmsten; grandchildren Elaine & Kevin; siblings Kathleen (John) Jagusch; Lewis (Jan), Jeannine (Jim) & David Hohenthaner. Joan cared for others & helped women who were less fortunate. She avidly studied World War II & the Holocaust & shared her passion by speaking in schools & community groups. Joan loved to bake & shared her delicacies with friends & neighbors. A memorial service will be held for her in the sanctuary of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Rd., Mahtomedi on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of your choice.
