Maria do Carmo Leandres Freitas, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 9, 2017. She was born in Santa Maria Azores, Portugal, the daughter of Manuel and Helena Leandres.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Antonio Chaves Freitas; four children, Gina Pastor and her husband, Eduardo Gil of Sao Miguel, Azores, Olga Freitas and her husband, Paul and Paula Resendes and her husband, Joe, all of Hudson, and Rui Freitas and Michelle of Marlborough; eight grandchildren, João, Gonçalo, Ashanti, Makayla, Toni, Jacob, Braden and Shane. She is also survived by her brother, Antonio Leandres of Santa Maria, Azores; nieces, Aura Cabral, Nelia Andrade, Alda Fontes, Delia Cabral, and Susana Leandres; her uncle, Luis Leandres of Hudson; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Maria Chaves.
Maria enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. Funeral services for Maria will be held on Friday, January 13, from the funeral home with a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
