Gerald W. Richer 85, died January 9, 2017 at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Jeannette (Fontenault) Richer. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Donat and Lucia (Roy) Richer. Gerald was a ship fitter for Electric Boat in Quonset for eighteen years before retiring in 1995. He was a US Navy Veteran. Gerry took great pride in his home and loved to spend time working around his house. He was always available to help others and enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by four sons, William Richer and his wife Kathleen of Whitinsville, MA, Christopher Richer and his girlfriend Patricia Studley and Paul Richer and his wife Jacqueline all of Woonsocket, and Peter Richer and his wife Susan of Harwich, MA; three sisters Muriel Cote of N Smithfield, Jeanne Morin of Woonsocket, and Vivian Ayotte of Blackstone, and seven grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Robert, Roger, and Raymond and
Estelle Richer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St James Cemetery in Manville. In lieu of flowers donations to Catholic Charity Fund Appeal Endowment, Catholic Foundation, 1 Cathedral Square, Providence, RI 02903 in his memory would be appreciated.
