Francis X. Shannon, Life-long resident of Medford and summer resident of Hull passed away peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family, on January 7th.
Survived by Emily (Donadio) Shannon, loving wife with whom he would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this month. Beloved father of John F. Shannon with Carol Aguiar of Tyngsboro, Thomas J. Shannon and his wife Robin of Minnesota, Mark A. Shannon and his wife Colleen of Plymouth, Susan E. Keating and her husband Larry of Medford, Eileen F. Garrity and her husband Joseph of Weymouth and Andrew J. Shannon and his wife Marjorie of Billerica. He was a proud Papa of nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Son of the late Joseph Leo Shannon and Kathleen (O’Donoghue) Shannon of Medford, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Timothy (Joe), Mildred Bennett, Paul, Claire, Bertrand and Leonard. Frank was a graduate of St. Clement High School and an alumnus of Boston College. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired with over thirty years of service in the US Postal Service and was a member of American Legion Post 45, Medford. Frank spent his summers at Nantasket Beach, Hull enjoying walks on the beach. Frank collected a lifetime of dear friends with lasting memories.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, January 12 at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
