Loretta G. (Cardosa) Monteiro, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home. Born in Swansea, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Rosa) Cardosa. Loretta was an Associates graduate of Bryant College. Prior to retirement she worked for many years at Stafford Insurance as a secretary. She was also a volunteer at the North End Senior Center.
Loretta leaves behind her children: Paul Monteiro (wife Elizabeth) of Cranston, RI and Joyce Neilan of Middletown, RI; grandchildren: Jared Neilan (wife Melodie), Elyse Foster (husband Daniel), and Jennifer and Wayne Joaquim; great-grandchild: Owen Neilan.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Thursday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Joseph’s Church at 10 A.M.
