Obituary

Laconia----Charles "Charlie" Francis Malone, Jr. 97, of Crescent Street died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie was born May 25, 1919 in Little Falls, New York, to the late Charles F., Sr. and Mary (Harrigan) Malone. He served in Alaska in World War II in the United Stated Army Air Corps which later became the United States Air Force. Charlie co-owned Dorval & Malone, otherwise known as Pete's Texaco for 20 years. He later became the service manager at Belknap Tire for 17 years.
Charlie also spent 31 years throughout his lifetime working at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, having started helping dear friends when it was just a dirt track and was known as Bryar Motorsport Park. He was a longtime and loved employee of the track. The Governor proclaimed May 18, 2009Charlie Malone Day in recognition of his ninetieth birthday. He reluctantly retired from the track at the age of 92. Charlie was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, having become a 3rd Degree Knight.
Charlie loved NASCAR and enjoyed his time spent at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He also loved traveling with his beloved wife and family having toured all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. Charlie often made stops along his travels keeping in touch with his lifelong military friends.
Charlie is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Malone, III and his wife, Carolyn of Greensboro, NC; Kenneth Malone and his wife, Gail of Laconia; three daughters, Charlene Monroe and her husband, Stanley "Bud" of Laconia, Lauralee LoMonaco and her husband, Rick of Hillsborough, and Colleen Malone of Hudson. Eleven grandchildren, Kellie Jenkins, Joel and Todd Monroe, Kevin, Jeffrey, Joanna and Daniel Malone, Erin, Elyse and Alexa LoMonaco and Chelsea Knapton. Eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Brayden, Landen, Camden, Charlie, Melaina, Juliana, Laurel and another due in June. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Kenneth "Ron" Dorval of Dunbarton and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents hewas predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Gladys (Dorval) Malone, a brother, Joseph Malone and three sisters, Ann Morgan, Mary Kiernan and Jane Petrie.
Calling hours will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House Entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH.
Burial will be in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery in the spring.
