Obituary

HAVERHILL: Maxine H. Ratte, 79, passed away peacefully at Wingate at Haverhill, January 6, 2017. Maxine was born in Haverhill, MA, August 2, 1937, the daughter of the late Dr. Arthur A. and Henriette (Biale) Ratte. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1955. Maxine later graduated from The Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA in 1958, and later Boston College School of Nursing.
She was a dedicated caregiver working as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Hospital in Boston, the Public Health Dept. for the city of Cambridge, and Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, MA. Maxine continued her commitment to nursing by working private duty nursing and later served as a Monitor for Laidlaw Transportation Company until her retirement in 2008.
A devout Catholic, she attended Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford and served on the church’s Spirit Committee for several years. Maxine was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America-Court 864 and enjoyed participating as a member of the Sacred Hearts Parish Activities & Programs Committee. She was a member of The Women’s City Club of Haverhill, and enjoyed being involved in the church and city communities she cared so much about.
She is survived by several cousins and the many dear friends she made throughout her life. She will be missed by those that remember her as a loving, faithful soul who was dedicated to caring for others.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, January 10th, from 4-6 PM at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 11th, at 11:00 AM from Sacred Hearts Parish, 165 South Main St. Bradford, MA. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent in Maxine's memory to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
