Obituary

Gilbert Lee DeVore, 87, of Anderson died January 6, 2017 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born November 27, 1929 in Anderson to John R. and Florice (Stinson) DeVore.
He served in the United States Navy.
He worked production at Delco Remy 30 years before retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church; a 50 year member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge # 77, a 40 year member and past Commander of American Legion Post 408 in Chesterfield, life member of VFW in Rochester; Veterans of Madison County and AMVETS Post 692.
He is survived by his four children, Sandra K. (Jerry) Romine; Terri (Michael Reese; Daniel (Terri) DeVore; Peggy (Don) Clapham; three grandchildren, Jeramy (Jessica) Romine; Jarrod (Beth) Romine; Brittney (Tyler) Krempasky; five great grandchildren, Annabelle, Aliza, Logan, Jaxon Romine and Sammy Farrer, III; two sisters, Judy Jackson and Janice (Walter) Craig and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothea DeVore.
Service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor James Proctor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Bronnenberg Cemetery with military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1:40 p.m. Masonic rites by Mt. Moriah Lodge on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Madison County Humane Society or Animal Protection League.
