New Bedford – Ernestina V. Maceta, age 91, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at home. She was the loving wife of the late Jose daCosta Maceta and the daughter of Manuel and Maria dos Anjos Viera.
Ernestina was born in Agua do Pau, St. Michael, Azores and, after moving to this country, worked as a Stitcher for many years until her retirement.
Her family includes her God-son, Antonio Jose Travassos and his wife, Karen of New Bedford; nieces and nephews: Ana Maria Machado, Armanda Amaral, Jose Viera, Angie Costa, Gabriela Medeiros, Dolores Torres, Armando Viera, Carolina Torres and Manny Viera.
Her funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma 02740.
