Obituary

KEANY, Mathew James Of Dedham died peacefully at home on January 4, 2017. He was born on October 17, 1925 and grew up in Dedham. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet Re. 

Mr. Keany was a Veteran of the Army Air Force and served during World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of Boston University where he met his wife. He spent the majority of his career designing and making jewelry in St. Thomas and Florida and was most proud of his work developing medallions for the U.S. Navy Seals. Mr. Keany was known for his intelligence, his love of reading and his dry wit.

Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Saturday, Jan. 7 from 8:30-9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mathew’s name to The New England Home for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
