Edythe A. Collins, 80

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Edythe A. (Kelly) Collins, age 80, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield, formerly of Cautamet passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles F. Collins, Sr., to whom she was wed for 52 years at the time of his death on February 24, 2012

Born in Boston, MA on June 12, 1936, she was a loving daughter of the late Frank B. and Anna E. (Mooney) Kelly

Edythe grew up in Newton and was a graduate of Newton North High School. Later in life, she returned to school and graduated from the Cape Cod Community College with an Associates Degree in Nursing.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Collins had worked as a Registered Nurse for the Cape Cod Visiting Nurse Association. She had formerly worked for ten years at Falmouth Hospital.

Edythe had made her home in Mansfield for the past ten years and was a former forty-five year resident of Cautamet, While living in Cautamet where she was a former member and secretary of Cataumet Civic Association.

Mrs. Collins was extremely dedicated to her career, family and community. She enjoyed gardening and the winter months spent with her late husband in Fort Myers, Florida

She is survived by her devoted children Beth A. Collins of Wayland, Charles F. Collins of Worcester, Jennifer L. Watka and her husband Alan of Sharon, Amy S. Zvonec and her husband David of Los Angeles, CA, John A. Collins of Hyannis and the late Christine M. Collins. She was the dear sister of Jack Kelly of Cambridge, Neil Kelly, Nancy Burlingame of Westport, Edward Kelly of Newton, Sheila Gediman of Tiverton, RI and the late Brenda Kelly. She was the cherished grandmother of Anna and Matthew Watson, Caelan and Michael Collins, Kelly, Meghan and Erik Watka and Amber Zvonec. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, January 6th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be held on Monday, January 9th at 10:30 A.M. the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Due to the limit of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Edythe’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
