Obituary

Mr. Eugene A. Maguire, a lifelong resident of Medford, passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on Sunday morning, January 1, 2017. He was 90 years old.
Born in Medford on December 19, 1926, he was the beloved son of the late Michael J. and Ellen (Biggins) Maguire. Mr. Maguire was a WWII Marine Corps Veteran, entering the military at Boston on November 20, 1944 and receiving his honorable discharge from the Marine Barracks at the US Naval Base in Boston on April 18, 1947. Eugene attained the rank of Corporal while serving in the Marines. As a civilian, he worked at Quincy Market as a Janitor, for many years. In his spare time, Mr. Maguire enjoyed reading about current events, history and baseball. He also assembled many scrapbooks about these topics. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by nieces and nephews; Robert M. Chambers of Mansfield, Nancy E. Chambers of Walpole, Stephen J. Chambers of Brighton and Mary Ellen Chambers of Jamaica Plain. Eugene was the brother of the late Mary E. Chambers and Eddie Maguire.
His Funeral Mass will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
