Jane C. Doherty (Kenney) age 73 of Canton passed away on December 28, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. Born and raised in Newton (Waban), MA she graduated from Newton South High School and Lasell College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Leach) Kenney and beloved sister of the late Mary Flynn-Fitzsimmons. “Miss Jane” was a devoted teacher at the The Blue Hill Montessori School in Canton for 36 years. Jane is survived by her loving husband of 51 years William G. Doherty, Jr. and their four daughters; Terri DiGiovanni & her husband Craig of Mansfield, Lisa Doherty of Canton, Julie Doherty of Mansfield and Mary Timilty & her husband Senator James of Walpole. Loving and cherished “Ummie” to Andrew and Benjamin DiGiovanni and Maryjane and Kaitlin Timilty. Also survived by her dear friend Janice Burns and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Monday 2-6 pm. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Tuesday morning at 10. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery.
