Ivan Ebenezar Burris, age 76 of Brockton, MA, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday December 28, 2016.
Mr. Burris was the son of the late Christina Winchester & Ebenezar Burris. Husband of the late Olga Burris, and brother of Una Robinson and the late Norris Gill of Trididad & Tobago, West Indies.
Ivan leaves to mourn his wife Edna Burris, his son Curtis Burris, his daughters Michelle Burris, Asabi Caterson. His grandchildren Justin, Trina, Brianna, William, Curtis, Javonte, Genesis, and his great-grandchildren Isaiah, Elijah, Jaylah.
He also leaves behind siblings, cousins, neices, and friends too numerous to list.
Ivan was a police constable in Trinidad prior to migrating to the United States in 1968. He was employed at M.I.T, Lincoln Labs as an electronic technician.
Later in life Ivan worked for the U.S. postal service where he retired in 2011. Ivan was a faithful servant of God. He knew the bible and lived his life according to the word.
Through his illness with Alzheimers he had extreme strength, courage and love. He continued to smile and told his many stories with enthusiasm. He was well respected and loved by all. Ivan greeted everyone with a kindness, respect and warmth. Ivan Burris was a gentleman in every sense of the word. We will miss him dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Joseph Russo Funeral Home on Wednesday January 4, 2017 from 7-9 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday January 5, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Matthews Church Dorchester followed by the interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain,
In lieu of flowers Mr. Burris may be remembered through a charity of one's choice.
