Obituary

William E. "Bill" Purinton, age 81, of Woburn, MA, passed away peacefully, December 25, 2016. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Ellen, of 56 years, son David, his wife Denise and their daughter Danielle of Sterling MA, daughter Betty Purinton and her loving companion Jason Drummond of Salem NH, and Brother Robert. Bill was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

Bill graduated from Medford Vocational High School and went into the Naval Air Force honorably serving during peace time. Bill didn't travel the world in the service like he thought he would, however his dream to travel did come true later in life. Bill and Ellen enjoyed many trips to Europe and around the States.

Bill's work career started as an electrician / plumber. At the suggestion of a dear friend, Bill changed his career to restaurant and hotel sales. Bill enjoyed family vacations in West Dennis, MA and then bought land in Meredith NH thanks to winning the lottery. He then spent every weekend building his vacation home board by board, nail by nail. It took him 26 years to finish his masterpiece which he then enjoyed in his retirement with Ellen. Bill was a handyman that was always there to help friends with any projects or whatever else they needed him for.

Over the years Bill and Ellen enjoyed spending time with old school friends, neighborhood friends and various other groups of friends. In their younger years it was the Elks group. Bill was a life member of the Arlington Elks Lodge. They went away every Mother's day weekend and what fun and laughs they had. Later in life with the Pot Luckers they enjoyed summer and winter vacations at each other's homes. Ellen had a network of friends from her work at Emerson Hospital and then Lahey Clinic where Bill mingled well with their husbands and they all had fun times. A few of Bills hobbies were crossword puzzles, board puzzles, solitaire and cribbage.

A special thank you to the staff of the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading for their loving care and support. Also thank you to McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.
