Obituary

Norma M. (McIntosh) Chalmers 82, of Franklin, died peacefully, with her family at her side, Tuesday December 6, 2016 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald C. Chalmers, Jr., who died in 2000.

Born May 2, 1934 in Boston, a daughter of the late Allan D. and Ada M. (Manning) McIntosh, she was a former longtime resident of Needham, MA, Yarmouthport, MA and Venice, FL, before moving to Franklin 2 years ago.

She was raised and educated in Needham, where she was a member of the Needham High School Class of 1953. Norma worked as a teller at the former Shawmut Bank in Needham.

She was a devoted wife and mother who treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. While living on Cape Cod she enjoyed being near the ocean, ceramics and watching her beloved Red Sox. She also was a volunteer at the South United Methodist Church's thrift store in Yarmouth.

Norma is survived by her children, Kathy A. Guinn and her husband O. Allen Guinn III, MD of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Glenn J. Kavanagh and his wife Debra-Lyn of Hyannis and Scott D. Kavanagh and his wife Karen of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, 3 brothers, Allen T. McIntosh of Foxboro, Robert McIntosh of Millis, Royal W. McIntosh of Massachusetts, 2 sisters Susan Roberts of Virginia, Gay Jackson of Franklin, and her former husband John H. "Jack" Kavanagh, Jr. of Dover, New Hampshire.

Also surviving are her grandchildren Oscar Allen Guinn IV, Kate Van Buskirk, Nikia L. Monahan, Evan R. Bianco, Emily C. Kavanagh and 3 great grandchildren Logan Van Buskirk, and Raegan & Patrick Monahan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Saturday Dec. 10th at 4 PM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Her interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be held at a later date.

Calling hours are Sat. from 2-4 PM prior to the service.
