New Bedford – Germaine Pontes, age 91 of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Royal Taber Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of the late James Pontes and the daughter of the late Antonio and Germaine (Braga) Bento.
Mrs. Pontes spent her life in this area and worked as a Stitcher for many years until her retirement.
Her family includes 2 children: Deborah Pontes of Dartmouth and the late Kathy Dupuis; a granddaughter, Jennifer Neumyer of Fall River; 2 siblings Ester Acucena of Dartmouth and Florence Gracia of Florida. She was predeceased by several other siblings; she was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pontes will be cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday May 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Padanaram. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
