Mrs. Laurie Bosworth Farrell, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of John J. Farrell, passed away at her home, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. She was 58 years old.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts on November 3, 1958, she was the beloved daughter of Ruth and Raymond Bosworth. Laurie was a graduate of Brockton High School and Northeastern University. She began her career as an electrical engineer with Raytheon, later switching to her real passion, teaching. She was a Math teacher in the town of Andover at Woodhill Middle School for many years. Laurie was devoted to her students and loved spending time with her family. She loved to travel and organized many family trips. She enjoyed taking her dogs on long walks and coaching youth soccer and basketball. Laurie was a source of comfort and strength to all those she loved. Above all, Laurie was a very devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and soon to be grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Besides her beloved husband, John, she is survived by her loving children; Kelsey and her husband Dan Driscoll of Andover and John Farrell of Andover siblings; Brenda and her husband Arlindo Rodrigues of Brockton, sister in law Denise Bosworth of Bridgewater, Karen Howell of Abington, Jan and her husband Pete Pates of Brockton, Steven and his wife Kathy Bosworth of Brockton, David and his wife Darlene Bosworth of Pennsylvania and Lisa and her husband Darryl Roberts of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. Laurie was also the sister of the late Kevin Bosworth and sister-in-law of the late Fred Howell.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Monday, December 26, 2016, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurie's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
