Madaus, George F. of Needham December 18. Beloved husband of Anne M. (O’Neil) Madaus for 57 years. Devoted father of Mary C. Corcoran and her husband Joseph of Needham, George A. Madaus of Marston Mills, Sarah A. Tierney and her husband Kevin of Cape Elizabeth Maine, Martha M. Gowetski and husband Mark of Needham, Joseph W. Madaus of Quaker Hill, CT, Eileen P. Keane and her husband Kevin of Needham. Also survived by 15 grandchildren. Brother of William C. Madaus of Plymouth and Edward P. Madaus of Boylston.
George was the Boisi Professor Emeritus of Education and Public Policy at Boston College and the co-founder and former Director of Boston College’s Center for the Study of Testing, Evaluation, and Educational Policy and the National Commission on Testing and Public Policy – along with being an internationally recognized expert on testing.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. Needham on Friday Dec. 23 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bartholomew Church, Needham at 10am.
