HAVERHILL, MA: Edna Harriett (Hicks) Leo, 71, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, December 11, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Leo. Edna was born in Haverhill, MA, June 11, 1945, the daughter of the late Forrest E. Jr. and Edna H. (O’Leary) Hicks. A lifelong resident of Haverhill, Edna was a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1963. She worked for several years as a Resident Supervisor for Edgewood Retirement Community and enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross.
Edna also participated with the Operation Christmas program, was a foster parent, and shared her love and generosity with the world throughout her lifetime. She was a natural caregiver and kind soul who loved caring for people. She loved animals, bingo, skipo, and arts & crafts. Of all her interests and joys nothing equaled her love for her family and time with her cherished grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her three sons; Curt Leo of NH, Richard Leo of Haverhill, and John McManus & wife Cathleen of Amesbury, seven grandchildren; Brittny McIntire & husband Clifton of Haverhill, Anthony , Michael, Samuel, Ryan & Kyle Leo, all of NH, and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Forrest Hicks III, her goddaughter Heidi, several nieces, nephews and many dear friends including all of those she loved dearly at Phoenix Row in Haverhill.
A memorial mass will be held Monday December 19, at 11:00 am from Saint John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Ave. Haverhill, MA. Internment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Haverhill.
