Obituary

Anna Beatrice (McCarthy) Lynch passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016 at Marian Manor. She was 92. An avid storyteller, those that loved her will always remember her colorful stories of her childhood in Taunton and of her time as a telephone operator at the Myles Standish army camp during World War II, where she assisted many a nervous young soldier in making a call home before he shipped out overseas.

It was during this time, on a fateful trip to New York to serve as a maid of honor for her brother’s wedding that she met Edward J. Lynch, the man who would become her life partner and husband for 71 years. After her marriage and the birth of her two daughters, Anna Marie and Theresa, she spent many years working in the precious metals industry in Attleboro in secretarial and administrative positions.
Anna was a Marian Medal recipient and devoted member of St. Paul’s Parish, serving as both a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Women’s Guild until the church closed. She enjoyed crafts, especially wreath making, crocheting, and ceramics, and was fond of sharing her work with family and friends. A skilled gardener, she was an active member of the Taunton Garden Club. Many a yard in Taunton has been beautified by a plant cultivated by Anna in her garden and donated to annual garden events.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Edward J. Lynch, and two daughters Anna Marie Gay and her husband John of Taunton, and Theresa Marie Moniz and her husband Lawrence of Raynham. She also leaves: three grandchildren, John A. Gay, Jennifer M. Moniz Carpenter, and Matthew J. Moniz; three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Aaron, and Michael, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her fourth grandchild, Leah A. Kane (Gay), and by her siblings, Monica Menard, Virgina Lavigne, Kathleen Thrasher, Edward McCarthy, and Charles McCarthy.

Mrs. Lynch’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 9 am from The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway in Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church Kilmer Avenue, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery Glebe St, Taunton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Anna’s memory made to; St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472, would be deeply appreciated.
