Obituary

Barbara “Snooky” (Johnson) Hamilton, age 84 of Brockton, died Friday December 2, 2016 at Signature Healthcare Hospital. She was the loving wife of Chester F. “Chet” Hamilton for 61 years.

Barbara was born in Brockton a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Johnson and remained a lifelong resident of the city. A 1951 graduate of Brockton High School, Barbara retired as a house keeper at St. Margaret’s Church. She had also been a longtime waitress at Peter’s Lunch on School Street.

Barbara loved to play bingo and she was famous for her baking, especially her famous whoopie pies and fudge. She will be remembered as a lady full of life and energy. She was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara was the loving mother of Bruce Hamilton and his wife Jean of Bridgewater and Cathy Phillips and her husband Fred of Norton. She also leaves five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late Dorothy McKeown, Mary Accarino, Thelma Angelone, Joseph, William, Richard and Robert Johnson.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 9-10:30am with a funeral Service at 10:30. Burial in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Barbara’s name to The American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701.
