Obituary

Athan “Arthur” Sigalas, age 74 of Brockton, died Friday, November 25, 2016 at Good Samaritan Medical Center following a period of failing health. Arthur was the husband for 30 years of Gina (Silvia) Sigalas. Born, raised and educated in Greece, he immigrated to the United States at the age of 17. Upon his arrival, Arthur was unable to speak English. However, through a strong determination he became fluent in his second language, English. Subsequently, he found employment in the restaurant and night club industries. After several years he decided to change his profession and attended hairdressing school in Boston and London, England. Upon completion of Hairdressing School in London, Arthur returned to the United States and opened his own salon, “The Clip Joint.”

Arthur was a friend to many and an avid sports fan who had a strong passion for his beloved sports of boxing, soccer and golf. He loved to compete in many local golf tournaments and was a two time winner of the Cronin Memorial at Halifax Golf Club. Arthur was also a longtime member of Thorny Lea Golf Club.

Arthur is also survived by a sister, Noula Lampronakos and niece Litza Lampronakos of Greece, a brother-in-law Joseph Silvia and nephew Joey Silvia IV of Florida, a brother-in-law Ricky Silvia of Brockton, several great nieces and a great nephew. He was the uncle of the late Takis Lampronakos.
