Obituary

Bonifacio Buan, 89, of Roslindale, Massachusetts passed away on November 30th at Vero Nursing home.

A wake will be held Saturday, December 3rd from 2pm-4pm at The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, MA.

Bonifacio was born in Calamba, Laguna in the Philippines. He worked most of his life as an Auto Mechanic, supporting his wife and 8 Children. Despite his singular income he was able to provide an opportunistic future for all his Children who were able to enjoy happy and fulfilling lives. His eldest child and daughter, Rosalina, was able to become a registered nurse and move to the United States to pursue better opportunities. Over time Rosalina was able to petition Bonifacio and his wife, Bernardina, to come to United States. Having always a hard working mentality, he expressed desire to work when he arrived in the United States instead of just relaxing at home and enjoying retirement. He eventually took a job at Costco Wholesale, working there for over 10 years, and becoming a familiar and friendly face to customers and staff alike. He was given the nick name “Boni” from staff and customers who knew him by his friendly face and always respectful demeanor. Even with his advanced age he often traveled to work and other places by himself, opting to walk or take public transportation. He did not let his age put limitations on himself. Bonifacio was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago which slowed down his activities but never his spirit. He was on the road to recovery but passed suddenly. He was a father, husband, grandfather, friend and a fighter.
Bonifacio is survived by his loving wife, Bernardina, along with 8 children, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by everyone he met.
