Obituary

HARLAND, Charles R. “Poppy” Age 82 of Dedham died peacefully, at home, surrounded by his entire beloved family, on Thursday, November 24, 2016.

He leaves his devoted wife of 56 years, Karen (Morley) Harland; his son, Charles R. Harland, Jr. “Chuck”; his daughter Denise Barry and her husband, James Barry of Holliston; his daughter Diane Rotolo and her husband, Robert Rotolo of Dedham; his son Scott Harland and his wife, Christine Harland of Whitinsville; and his daughter Karalyn Harland of Norwood.

He was the adored grandfather to Stephen Harland, Ryan Barry, Jillian Barry, Daniel Barry, Shane Smida, Dean Smida and Caroline Harland. He also leaves behind his much loved sister-in-law Patricia A. Fitzgibbon of Dedham.

He was the son of the late William Harland and Gertrude (O’Brien) Harland and the brother of William Harland, the late Richard Harland, the late Donald Harland and Joan (Harland) Homsy.

He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army for 6 years. He was a dedicated employee of New England Telephone; he retired from a management position after 25 years of service.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the “Lincoln Street” families who supported Charles, Karen and Chuck for so many years and especially during this past year.

A funeral service will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Monday, November 28. Visiting hours will take place between 4:00-8:00pm with the funeral service at 7:00pm. Interment private.

Family and friends are kindly invited to the services; at the conclusion a reception will be held at Victory Grill located at 233 Elm St., Dedham.
