Obituary

Antonio F. Piedade, 84, of New Bedford died unexpectedly November 23, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara M. Piedade.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Antonio and Virginia (Rodrigues) Piedade, he lived in New Bedford for all of his life.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Antonio was the owner of Piedade's Barbershop, in Baylies Square in New Bedford where he worked for many years until his retirement.

He enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales and played the guitar in a jam session every Wednesday. He also enjoyed working out every morning at the YMCA in New Bedford.

Survivors include three daughters, Lila Bryant and her husband James of Florida, Deborah Martin and her husband Gil of New Bedford, and Colleen Piedade of New Bedford; two sisters, Elizabeth Sullivan and Margaret Piedade; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Antonio was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Nunes and Lila Piedade.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford, with a Funeral Service to be held at 6 PM.
