Obituary

NATICK: Richard Barber, age 87, a lifelong resident of Natick, died on Monday, November 21, 2016, at Marlborough Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Helen G. (Shed Beaumont) Barber for 42 years.

Born, raised and educated in Natick, he was the sixth of Henry A. and Ruth (Dunbar) Barber’s eight children. Richard entered the Army at 17 and served as a Private for the remainder of World War II.

Richard continued a family tradition being employed throughout his career as an insurance salesman for John Hancock Life. He and Helen were married in1974, and whether they were living in Wayland or Marlborough, Richard always “lived in Natick.” A caring man who did all he could for others, Richard most enjoyed traveling with Helen to the beach at York, Maine, a family owned farm in Fryeburg, Maine, and visiting North Conway and Tamworth, New Hampshire. Richard was immensely proud of his large and loving family.

He is survived by Helen, five children; Richard Barber, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Manchester, NH, Robert “Bill” Barber and wife Sheri Damon of Marshfield, Deborah J. Barber Donovan and partner Wayne Wilk of Framingham, Scott W. Barber of Marlborough and Jeffrey F. Barber and wife Lisa of Marlborough; Helen’s children, Susan L. Odell and partner James Low of Florida, and Robert G. Beaumont and wife Millie of Randolph; his former wife, Beverly Ward Hunde of Natick; a sister, Jean Townsend of Iowa, a brother, Kenneth F. Barber of Natick; and his grandchildren, Keith Barber, Katie Barber Ivester, Andrew Barber, Adina Barber Cripps, Karrie Barber Menswar, Sammie Damon, Sydney Damon, Sasha Damon, Amy Odell, Richy Odell, Bobby Beaumont, Joey Beaumont, Nick Beaumont, and Corey Clark; and great-grandchildren, Ashlin Ivester, Keel Cripps, Liam Cripps, Kadence Menswar, Avery Menswar, Frank Barber, Adrian Barber, Casey Barber, Erin Buckley, Vaughn Buckley, Alexander Gonzalez, Rylee Worley, Jayden Beaumont, Kaleob Beaumont, Kane Beaumont, Bliss Clark, Jeremy Clark, Nicole Clark, Madison Barber, Jordan Barber, Sarah Barber, and Steven Venezia. Richard was predeceased by Helen’s daughter, Joyce Blease, and his siblings, Henry A. “Hank” Barber, Jr, R. William “Bill” Barber, Janet Bouret, Ruth Condon, and Donald Barber.

Richard’s funeral will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Monday, November 28th at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will be private.
