Obituary


Alfred P. “Al” Mack age 87 of Attleboro, died unexpectedly Saturday November 19, 2016. He was the loving husband for 68 years of Muriel (Whealan) Mack. Al was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late John and Ruth (Murphy) Mack. He lived most of his life in Brockton before moving to Attleboro 26 years ago.
Al left school to enlist in the Army in the later years of WW II. He became a member of the Brockton Fire Department and proudly served for 39 years retiring in 1992. He had also been a truck driver for Intercity Transportation for many years.
As a member of Local 144, Al enjoyed the camaraderie with his fire fighter brethren. He enjoyed trips with his wife and they traveled extensively. He especially enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas. Al will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor who liked to embellish his war stories to his grandchildren. Most importantly, Al cherished time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Al was the father of Edward P. Mack and his wife Elaine of No. Easton; Rosie Foster and her husband John of Warwick, RI; Brian A. Mack of Brockton; David J. Mack and his wife JoAnn of Westlake Village, CA and the late Debra A. (Mack)DiGiovanni and Dennis Mack. He leaves 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and was the brother of Donald Mack of Stoughton and the late Catherine Syrjala, Lawrence, Wilson, Joseph and Robert Mack.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Sunday 2-6pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 8 am for a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial in St. Stephen Cemetery, Attleboro.
