Laconia----Phyllis Dame 92, of Charlevoix Place, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 after a brief stay at Laconia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with her loving family by her side.
Phyllis was born April 27, 1924 in New Haven, Connecticut, daughter to the late Andrew and Margaret (Pascale) DeLise. She worked as a cashier for Zayre until it became Ames and worked until its closing. Phyllis then went to work in 2002 as a foster grandparent at Elm Street School for 14 years. She worked in Mrs. Mandi Youssef's 4th grade class until this past year. She was also a member of the Sweet Adeline's in Laconia for many years.
Phyllis enjoyed being part of The Foster Grandparent Program as well as spending summer days at Gilford Beach with her family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Robert Ewens and his wife, Stephanie of Gilford; two daughters, Susan Davis and her fiance, Patrick Manley of Laconia and Janis Campos and her husband, Gerry of Fresno, CA and daughter-in-law, Lisa Ewens; six grandchildren, Kent, Russ, Rebecca, Trevor, Rilee and Nick; fifteen great-grandchildren and her longtime companion Leo Richard. Phyllis is also survived by two sisters, Rose Warren of North Haven, CT and Adelyn Walsh of Wallingford, CT, as well as three nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Ed Dame, her son Wayne Ewens, her brother, Jerry DeLise and her former husband and the father to her children, Robert H. Ewens Jr.
Services will be scheduled for the spring.
